Preview: Breakin’ Convention, Colston Hall

A hip-hop dance theatre spectacular, Breakin’ Convention returns to Colston Hall on May 10.

The brainchild of pioneering dancer-director Jonzi D, it features performances from local crews alongside global stars like Antoinette Gomis (France – see video), The Ruggeds (Netherlands) and Iron Skulls (Spain).

This time round the main event will be preceded by a warm-up show in the Colston Hall foyer, featuring live graffiti, breakdancing workshops and – for the first time – a portable skate ramp.

Local acts involved include Hype, Jodelle Douglass, Safia White, Will Clark and the Youth Dance Academy, while music will be supplied by DJ Moneyshot (Solid Steel / The Allergies/ Jalapeno Records). Listen to his Breakin’ Convention teaser mix below.
