Preview: Ed Geater, The Crofter’s Rights
Ed Geater will be playing at The Crofter’s Rights on March 15 on his debut UK tour. Dubbed by BBC Introducing as ‘One of the West Midlands most exciting talents’, his tour comes in the wake of the second single from his Unseen EP, If I’m Being Honest, released on London independent label Music Mandi Friday, February 17.
Ahead of his upcoming gig at The Crofter’s Rights, Ed answered a few of our Quickfire Questions:
Who’s dominating your Spotify playlist right now?
Bonobo’s new album! The direction he’s taken is an interesting departure from North Borders but still retains the signature Bonobo textured harmonic passages.
What’s your favourite song to play?
My house infused tune, Symmetry! I generally close the set with this and gets people moving. Check out a live version I did for Human Beatbox
Here’s the music video for the studio track too!
Who are your major musical influences?
My favourite band is Radiohead, but I’m also massively inspired by electronic producers such as Bonobo (of course!), Four Tet and Boards of Canada, plus percussive fingerstyle guitarists like Antoine Dufoir and Andy Mckee.
What song do you pick to get ready for a night out?
Floating Points, Muits Sonores, it’s a progressive house banger!
What have you got coming up?
I can’t wait to get out on the road for my first ever tour UK Tour. I’ve been building this project for a couple of years and now feel ready to take it to the next level by venturing to towns and cities across the country.
The feedback I’ve received in my local scene in Birmingham has been awesome, and I look forward to meeting new faces in new places!
Ed can be found at The Crofter’s Rights March 15 and all the standard social networks!
