Review: Arthur Hill, The Louisiana – ‘High-energy and catchy tunes’
The sold-out Louisiana was already packed full of gig-goers as I arrived to watch Arthur Hill perform for his first-ever headline tour.
You might be more familiar with Arthur Hill through his social media work, sitting at a very comfortable 1.5 million followers on TikTok, nearly 60 thousand subscribers on Youtube and nearly 250 thousand followers on Instagram.
While there’s plenty of comedy-aimed online content, there is also a strong promotion of his latest songs in between. You can clearly tell that the music is not just a second thought but something he is incredibly proud of and wants to succeed alongside his funnier side.
is needed now More than ever
While yet to release an album, he has released a range of singles consistently that range from soulful ballads to upbeat pop tunes, with the latest uploaded just a day before this concert.
Warming up the crowd was Jack Shane, who charmed the crowd with a selection of his songs and even a cover of Landslide.
I thought his voice perfectly matched the folk stylings of some of the tracks, especially when he leaned into this sounds a bit more in the second half of his set.
Half an hour passed and Arthur Hill took to the stage, launching into a setlist full of high-energy, catchy tunes that make great use of his ability to hit high notes.
This included the upbeat 80s dance track Dead in the Disco and slightly more sombre but still energetic tunes such as You’re Not A God.
He kept the energy high during his set, frequently taking the time to engage with the audience. While performing a lot of his own material, covers of Kings of Leon and Troye Sivan were also crowd-pleasers.
Overall Hill’s electric voice, charming stage presence and existing popularity should hopefully propel him into stardom in the coming years and I am looking forward to hearing a potential album once he’s finished his ‘Ar-tour’!
