Review: Summer Lates Series, SS Great Britain – ‘A magical experience’
Every Thursday for the next eight weeks, the historic ship will be hosting an evening of live music, BBQ food and drinks for you to enjoy.
Partnering with Coffee Club, the summer series will welcome a range of artists performing a plethora of songs at the ship yard.
The first artist to kick things off was Iris Lyre, an indie-electronica duo from Bristol.
is needed now More than ever
The soulfoul, alt-pop duo provided the ideal backdrop for attendees while they explored the boat and dockyard.
Charlie provided haunting ethereal vocals, her poetical lyrics a lovely tonic to listen to in the late evening sunshine.
Their cover of Izzy Bizu’s White Tiger was a definite highlight, the soulful track performed live made it hard for anyone listening not to have a smile on their face.
A warm, friendly, welcoming duo, the gig felt intimate and personal, which was not an easy feat considering the size of the location they were playing at.
The opportunity to walk around the famous ship without the hustle and bustle of school trips was certainly not to be missed.
It felt like we were children again, as we wandered through the SS Great Britain, past closing time.
The summer late series provides a magical experience, listening to live music aboard the world’s first great ocean liner while the sun set was unforgettable.
