t l k unveils new music video
Independent producer, collaborator and vocalist t l k shines in her directorial debut for the release of her music video, ‘Next To The Mirror.’ t l k’s sound is distinct and mighty, fusing sonic landscapes, throbbing synths and atmospheric textures to create a tingle-induced reaction.
‘Next To The Mirror’ is a seamlessly shot one-take video, with the help of fellow creatives such as Lottie Ball (choreography), Josh Williams (lighting) and Jai Bellchambers (camera work), t l k’s initial vision flourishes and is a mighty directorial debut.

At its core, ‘Next To The Mirror’ is an introspective confrontation of trauma and self-hood. We follow the narrative of the adult, the inner child and the ‘middle self’, each dancer evoking each identity. The track reaches its zenith when all three dancers are in shot together, the multi-layered production and choreography all merge into one entity. It’s immersive and hypnotic, each dancer giving movement to t l k’s effervescent lyrics.

Speaking on the matter, t l k elaborates: ‘The needs of our inner children surface in cycles, which is something I wanted to capture in the track’s ‘round’ structure, and again by following the protagonist from the false comforts of the adult world to the chaos of childhood, returning to soft blankets and ambient lighting when things become too heavy.
While we see the adult struggle to process her trauma, the inevitability of the cycle repeating brings a familiarity and acceptance to the process of confrontation: the more we meet with our former selves, the more able we are to honour the strength in tenderness.’
