Team behind Motion launch 3,000-capacity creative venue
A new creative space has been launched by the team behind music venues, Motion and the Marble Factory.
The venue is a “multi-faceted” space, offering Bristol’s creative community a hub for underground art, music and experimental sound.
Known previously as the Pennywell Project, the team behind Motion have now relaunched the space under a new name, Document, marking a distinct change of concept from the venue’s previous use.
is needed now More than ever
Document sits inside the former 90s document storage facility on Pennywell Street in St Jude’s, and has a 3,000 capacity event space.
The new space promises “a season of live music and electronic events set to make this former document storage space an iconic Bristol destination for cultural purveyors from around the country.”
Artists have been moving into the space since 2019, and the team behind Motion have been putting on events in the space since then. However the new launch marks a distinct change for the space, which is being carefully curated to make it both accessible and affordable for locals and Bristol’s creative scene.
The converted warehouse has five different zones that are all uniquely different: Facility, Record, Studio, Gallery and Concept. Alongside the main event space, there is also a gym, meeting rooms and 1,000 square metres of affordable studios.
Organisers said they are “redefining coworking”, offering artists, freelancers and small businesses the opportunity to congregate and collaborate across the footprint of our building”.
