The new LGBTQ+ choir championing joy and positive well-being
Bristol EnharmoniQ is the newest choir on Bristol’s music scene.
Founded in January, Bristol EnharmoniQ is an LGBTQ+ choir that rehearses in Bedminster every Tuesday evening.
A group of people who enjoy singing a whole range of different styles of music, including acapella and on piano, they are the fourth LGBTQ+ choir in Bristol, alongside Bristol Gay Men’s Chorus, Bristol Trans singers, and Sing Out Bristol.
is needed now More than ever
“So far we are really pleased to have gone from four to 18 singers since our January launch,” Bristol EnharmoniQ tell Bristol24/7.
“Our aim is to be a choir of around 40. Bristol is a big city and is a city of singing and choirs so one more will just add to that diversity and richness of sound in Bristol.”
The choir are currently looking for new members to join them, no experience is required and you aren’t required to know how to read music.
Members must be aged 18 and over and the choir will provided all the scores, lyrics and music files to help practice.
They have set themselves the challenge of performing for the first time at the Hand in Hand Festival in August which brings together LGBTQ+ choirs from around the UK every two years and will be taking place in Bristol this year.
“We have fun together and also a nice social element to the choir – going to the pub after rehearsals or seeing a show or gig together,” they explain.
“Singing is a source of joy and good for supporting positive wellbeing. We feel there should be as many places as possible to sing together in Bristol, especially for LGBTQ+ singers.
“By coming together to sing we not only create a beautiful sound but also support each other as we know how important that element of being in an LGBTQ+ choir is for many people as well.”
For those interested in joining the new choir, a free taster session is recommended first.
