Waldo’s Gift release ‘furious’ new single
Experimental jazz trio Waldo’s Gift have released a boldly frenetic single as a precursor to their debut album.
Candifloss is a brash and exuberant track exploding with frantic guitar, heavy bass and discordant wire wool snarls of sound.
It’s a statement piece from a band that made their name through stand-out improvised performances at their weekly Gallimaufry residency and has since become associated with the local iteration of the UK jazz explosion, though the track is testament to their statement that they “essentially Trojan-Horse metal into jazz venues.”
is needed now More than ever
The album, Malcolm’s Law, promises to be a ‘sizzling, maximalist impossibly complex guitar record’, with every track has been recorded live.
The artwork has been created from glitched photographs by the artist, RUFFMERCY, known for his work with Thom Yorke, Earl Sweatshirt, Ghetts, Danny Brown and The Chemical Brothers and a dream collaborator for the band.
It will be released in January next year on fellow Bristol outfit Ishmael Ensemble’s label Severn Songs.
