Writing / Poetry Festival
Hotwells Festival of Words & Music returns
Celebrating “the value and wonder of the crafted word in all its forms,” HotFest is set to make a return to the pubs and venues of Bristol’s western harbour on the weekend of September 29-October 1.
From spoken word to poetry, sea shanties, morris dancing, comedy and a few surprises promised along the way, the festival of words and music comprises an eclectic programme of free and ticketed events, all run by a team of local volunteers.
HotFest is proud to champion both established and emerging artists, with a particular love of those whose work is a showcase for the passion, love, laughter, joy and fury that words, in their many forms, can elicit.
is needed now More than ever
Visitors can expect avant-garde cabaret, intimate sets from folk, bluegrass, jazz and classical musicians, writing workshops, soap-box philosophy, and everything in between.
In curating the festival, the organisers are keen to amplify all voices, and to ensure the events are inclusive to a wide audience.
“So many of our writers, performers and musicians come from backgrounds in which the arts weren’t available or encouraged,” they say, “and they are doing wonderful things with their craft – breaking down barriers, creating new worlds, bringing new perspectives on old ideas, and connecting people an igniting sparks with the fire of words and music.”
HotFest takes place around Hotwells from September 29-October 1. For a full line-up of events at the festival, visit www.hotwellsfestival.com.
