Arts Council support for Bristol venues
Arts Council England has announced the successful applicants for its Catalyst Small Grants programme, which will support organisations to build fundraising capacity to attract more private giving to arts and culture. The Catalyst Small Grants fund is one of the measures the Arts Council puts in place to help create a more sustainable and resilient arts and culture sector.
Four Bristol cultural organisations featured in the list of successful applicants. MAYK, producers of Mayfest and more, will receive £24,765; OpenUp Music will be awarded £30,000; £15,000 will go to The Architecture Centre; and Theatre Bristol will receive £27,900.
A total of 117 successful applicants from across England will be awarded between £10,000 and £30,000 to help drive investment into arts and cultural organisations as a key part of one of Arts Council England’s goals which is to help create a more sustainable and resilient arts and culture sector. The £2,869,493 fund will support small to medium sized organisations to invest in systems, or training and development for staff, volunteers and boards, or to cover the costs of external expertise to increase their fundraising.
is needed now More than ever
Phil Gibby, Area Director, South West, Arts Council England, said: “Arts and culture in England thrives on a mixed funding model of earned income, private giving and public investment. Although private giving will never replace public-funding, it’s an important source of funding for arts and cultural organisations, and we are delighted to be able to fund these four organisations in Bristol to build and strengthen their fundraising capacity.”
