First Barton Hill Festival: have your say
This October will see the first-ever Barton Hill Festival, a family-friendly mix of live performance, art, wellbeing and film, plus culturally diverse activities and food from around the world.
The festival (Sunday, October 29, 2017) is being delivered in partnership with Barton Hill’s award-winning residents, young people’s theatre company Travelling Light, along with Barton Hill Settlement and Up Our Street, a resident-led charity that brings people together to effect change in the neighbourhoods of Easton and Lawrence Hill.
is needed now More than ever
The event is being curated for and by the people of Barton Hill and, on two days this spring, the organisers are holding a festival forum for Bristolians to share ideas and suggestions to help shape the day. The two Forums will run from 11.30am-2pm on Thursday, April 27 and Saturday, May 20 at the Travelling Light Studio, within Barton Hill Settlement, BS5 0AX.

The first Barton Hill Festival will be supported by both The Big Lottery Fund’s Awards For All scheme and Bristol City Council’s Community Festival and Events Fund. This support will go towards a programme of events including a professional play inspired by Barton Hill’s history; workshops for all ages including drama, craft, wellbeing; complementary therapies, singing and dance, and storytelling from around the world culminating in a twilight lantern parade by local schools and artists.
There will also be a sensory exploration room for young people with additional needs which will play specially designed films by local filmmaker Camilla Adams.
