Old Market Assembly to host DisGraceful Behaviour

By James Higgins  Wednesday Mar 28, 2018

The Old Market Assembly is due to hold a stunning night of drag, cabaret, and burlesque featuring some breathtaking talents.

Drawing together performers from Bristol, London, Berlin, and Manchester – DisGraceful Behaviour promises to build on Bristol’s strengthening queer scene.

The event will be hosted by local drag artist Dis Charge. A punk-rock queen – she’s made a name for herself by putting aside preconceived notions of drag. Dis Charge is known for her brand of ‘queerlesque’ – combining burlesque with her unique aesthetic, DJ-ing, and her own music.

The event will also feature Rinz Ryan Stecken – a Berlin Boytunte and self-described ‘Dragalienclownslut’. Through his performances, he presents a face that blends looks as suited to a big top as a glossy mag.

Rinz Ryan Stecken will be bringing some of Berlin’s avant-garde drag to Bristol

Closer to home, Ophelia Wilde from Bristol offers wonderful variety. A sultry dame with a love for burlesque, her ten years of experience, ample ability and positivity are to show – whatever the body – confidence is key.

With Dis Charge as host – one would expect a dark twist – and Eva Serration from Manchester is sure to bring one. But this dark twist is a little more farcical and satirical that one might expect. Eva is the vessel that brings us Theresa Dismay. A drag-queen-within-a-drag-queen, she is a scathing send-up of our ‘strong and stable’ prime minister. Recalling the very best days of drag, Eva shows that drag can be a truly political tool.

Theresa Dismay might even lip sync to the PM’s iconic cough-athon

Also on their way to Bristol, London-based Benjamin Butch. Butch is a comedic drag king who’s as flamboyant as he sounds. Basing himself on Mick Jagger – this king has some of the most outrageous performances on the circuit.

“I can’t wait to wow people – because we’re sure to impress,” Dis Charge says, “it’s such a varied cast who bring so much raw talent there really is a no shortage of high-octane fun to be had.”

Disgraceful Behaviour is hosted by Old Market Assembly, April 7, 9.30pm. Tickets are £5.00 in advance or £10.00 if purchased at the event.
