Preview: The Wardrobe Theatre’s Greatest Hits
Just before their big move across town to a new home in Old Market, the team at Kingsdown’s small-but-distinctly-beautiful Wardrobe Theatre will re-enact some of the big hits of their four productive years in a room above The White Bear pub.
Highlights will include performances from Verity Standen and Ellie Showering, the stunning voices behind hit music/theatre offerings Hug and Mmm Hmmm; brilliant local comic performer Angus Barr; adventurous Bristol company FellSwoop Theatre; composer, performer, “glitter whore” and interpretive dance master Simon Panrucker; the theatre’s own Wardrobe Ensemble, creators of the plays Riot, 33 and 1972: The Future of Sex; and the company behind the theatre’s hugely popular fortnightly improvised soap opera, Closer Each Day.
You’ll also see a highlight reel of the Wardrobe’s splendidly alternative Christmas shows to date (Home Alonely, Oedipuss In Boots, Se7en Dwarfs), while a photobooth will be on hand for your portraits with the stars of last year’s Xmas hit, the dark puppet comedy Muppits Die Hard.
is needed now More than ever
Says the Wardrobe’s Matthew Whittle: “We’re putting together a really incredible line-up of guests and performances as we revisit some of the best moments of The Wardrobe’s past four years – while also looking forward and previewing some shows coming up at our new venue.”
All money made from ticket sales will go towards the theatre’s fundraising campaign to relocate, by December, to Old Market, where the Wardrobe is collaborating with the team behind The Canteen and No1 Harbourside to create a new space for theatre, comedy, food, drink, music and much more.
