Redland pub garden to host outdoor Shakespeare
Shakespeare in the Garden is returning to one of only two Fuller’s pubs in Bristol in September.
This year’s production sees The Tempest produced by theatre company Open Bar taking centre stage in the garden of the Cambridge Arms in Redland.
Open Bar co-founder and director, Nicky Diss, said: “Every year we try to bring accessible and fun Shakespeare shows to Fuller’s pub gardens and, this year, we all need inspiring theatre more than ever.”
is needed now More than ever
Open Bar is a female-led company aiming to create theatre that is accessible to everyone, with the company adopting a lively, informal style for its performances.
Co-founder Vicky Gaskin added: “Our audiences are a real mix of pub goers and theatre fans. We love them all but nothing beats witnessing someone enjoying Shakespeare for the first time.
“The more reluctant they are at the beginning, the more magical it is.”
The Tempest comes to the Cambridge Arms on September 17. For tickets and more information, visit www.fullers.co.uk/event-finder/shakespeare-in-the-garden
