Shakespeare turns spooky for Halloween at St Werburgh’s City Farm
Bristol theatre company Rambling Heart espouse the alchemical joy alchemy that comes with a clash of styles: blending the traditional with the modern; the scripted with the spontaneous; the familiar with the unexpected.
They have turned their hands to ‘twisted myths’, revised folk tales, and, in the upcoming A Midsummer Night’s Scream! – running from October 21-31 at St Werburghs City Farm – will be reimagining Shakespeare for the spooky season.
“Expect live music, masks, and mayhem as our young lovers get lost in a haunted wood and Puck, master of mischief, pulls the strings,” they outline in the show notes.
is needed now More than ever
The seasons are all wrong, the harvest is a rotten mess, and the faery folk are up for some fun at we mortals’ expense! Their Midsummer is our Halloween and it’s about to get dark!
Although all performances are outside, they will be undercover, in the sheltered courtyard of the farm.
Audience members are encouraged to take part in King Oberon’s Costume Competition, while also ensuring they are well wrapped up for a late October night.
Tickets include a cup of hot spiced apple juice served during the interval.
