Sherlock: The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle

By Steve Wright  Monday Jan 5, 2015

Kingswood’s Brass Works Theatre return with another fast-paced, fun-filled theatrical treat, featuring dancing and songs from the music hall and plenty of family fun.

Bruce Fellows’ adaptation of Conan Doyle’s tale set in the afterglow of Christmas involves a stolen hat and a Christmas goose, as well as the theft of a priceless jewel and a blackmail plot to bring down the Royal Family.

It’s also a return for Brass Works’ female Sherlock Holmes, first introduced to audiences back in 2012 with a celebrated production of The Hound of the Baskervilles. This lady Sherlock can only be taken seriously as a detective in Victorian England by dressing up as a man. She maintains this deception perfectly, to the point that even Dr Watson is clueless. In our shows, rather than pipe smoking and violin playing, Sherlock finds a sense of relief by dressing as a woman and singing in the music halls of London.
