Windmill Hill City Farm’s new garden theatre announces summer programme
Windmill Hill City Farm’s new Garden Theatre is launching on June 27, promising a relaxed, informal and fully accessible environment in which people can enjoy a lively and diverse arts programme.
Three-tiered curved seating surrounds a central performance area made of bamboo decking, and the thoughtfully screened and landscaped space presents a natural haven in the middle of Bristol.
Last summer, WHCF began hosting touring arts companies and performers in the farm’s play area, including Brave Bold Drama, The Nest Collective, The Bristol Shakespeare Festival, and cult stand-up star, Daniel Kitson.

Subsequent funding was then secured from the Veolia Environmental Trust through the Landfill Communities Fund and John James Bristol Foundation to create a dedicated venue with seating for 120 people, staging and electrical supply, whilst retaining the separate play area.
“The Garden Theatre will help WHCF continue supporting underserved communities through accessible arts activities,” organisers say, “cultivating creativity and well-being in our local community.”
