Bristol Harbour Festival 2017 highlights: Markets
Bristol Harbour Festival returns this weekend for its 46th year and, as always, promises to be a lively collection of activities, music, markets and exhibitions.
Every day this week, Bristol24/7 will focus on a different aspect of the celebrations in order to share some of the highlights and not-to-be-missed moments of one of the city’s finest family-friendly events.
As befits a city famous for its many food and drink offerings, Bristol Harbour Festival has an impressive line-up of market stalls and traders who will be on hand all weekend.
is needed now More than ever
Queen Square will once again be transformed into a hub of activity, with the continental market right in the thick of the action. Stalls will line up along the cobbles to offer a variety of European cuisines, such as paella, speciality cheeses, crepes and fresh fruit.
Bars serving local ciders, beers and spirits will be found on the grassy areas. There will also be arts and craft traders, offering traditional handmade gifts, decorations and furniture.
As with previous years, the atmosphere within Queen Square looks set to be lively and abuzz with activity and is a fantastic spot to eat local food from independent traders whilst browsing for unique gifts and treats.
Keep an eye out for the Young Bristol Tea Tent this year, which is being run by the festival’s official charity, Young Bristol. Volunteers will be on hand to serve up cups of tea and coffee, alongside homemade cakes and goodies which will be available to buy.
More stalls will be situated on Narrow Quay, opposite the bars and restaurants that line the harbour, and independent traders will also pitch up in Merchants Quay for the first time this year, selling vintage goods to include glassworks, jewellery and clothing.
