By Beth Owen  Friday Aug 2, 2019

Organisers of the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta have confirmed that Darth Vader will be attending this years event.

£4,500 has been raised by a crowdfunding campaign to fund the sith lord’s return home to Bristol.

“The Darth Vader balloon has been pictured around the world but never against some its home city’s well-known icons.

“We are delighted we now have the chance to change that, thanks to the support of the people of Bristol,” says Chris Allcock, chair of the 2019 Bristol International Balloon Fiesta organising committee.

The balloon was built in Bedminster by Cameron Balloons in 2007 but this will be the first time that Darth Vader has flown the Bristol skyline.

Thanks to a Crowdfunding campaign, the balloon will fly at the fiesta in 2019

The crowdfunding page is still open to donations, with event organisers hoping to raise a total of £10,000 to help support the event. Rewards  include hot air balloon flights, VIP access to hospitality areas of the Balloon Fiesta and limited edition works of art.
