7 acts not to miss at Bristol Burlesque Festival

By Bristol24/7  Thursday Sep 8, 2016

Bristol Burlesque Festival returns for its fifth annual outing between September 8 and 10.

Festival organiser Tuesday Laveau chooses her seven acts not to miss:

Frankly Frankie – Idaho, USA

Keep our city's journalism independent.

“Her character driven performances lean towards gender bending and the absurd and when coupled with her classic features and charm, leave audiences simultaneously horrified and aroused.”

Lolita Va Voom – Berlin, Germany

“Originally from California by way of Seattle, Lolita now calls Berlin home. She has a fresh take on neo-burlesque, mixing her 15 years of modern, tap, and ballet with pop, rock n’ roll, and 1950s style to create an exciting experience for her audiences.”

John Smith – London, UK

“This boundary breaking Drag King has a power, grace and intimacy on stage that will move you deeply.”

Alexander the Great – Texas, USA

“Alexander the Great is an experienced aerialist, acrobat, and professionally trained dancer. Combining Drag King style with energetic pole dance performance, there is always something new to see when Alex performs, and there is never a moment to miss!”

Bella Blue – Louisiana, USA

“Our Friday night headline act! Born and raised in New Orleans, Bella Blue started dancing at the age of three studying extensively in ballet and modern into adulthood. In 2007 she traded in her pointe shoes for pasties and hasn’t looked back since. Her style can be best described as unpredictable!”

Ruby Derriere – Bristol, UK

“Burlesque, fire, pole. This badass Bristol legend is a triple threat!”

Ginger La Rouge – Manchester, UK

“100 per cent glamour, Ginger has wowed audiences all over the UK since 2007. She’s fixing to splash her way in to your heart with a show stopping performance in a HUGE Champagne glass.”

Fifi Von Tassel – Oslo, Norway

Provocative, funny, feminist, fierce as hell with a story to tell. She has proven controversial and headline making in her home country and we expect her to do the same here.
