Bristol Balloon Fiesta returns with first mass ascent

The city’s skies were filled with colour as the International Balloon Fiesta returned with a bang after three years.

Visitors were treated to the flight of 63 balloons at 6am on Friday for the event’s first morning mass ascent.

It came after Thursday evening’s flight was cancelled due to unpredictable wind conditions.

Organisers of the fiesta called off its firework displays due to dry conditions at Ashton Court Estate.

There is due to be another mass ascent at 6pm with a night glow on Saturday evening.
