Pride announces first details of 2018 festival
This year’s Bristol Pride Festival will be expanding from one to two weeks of events across the city, with the main Pride Day festival taking place on Saturday, July 14 across the Lloyds Amphitheatre, Waterfront Square, and Millennium Square.
Acts announced so far for the main stage include Republica, Avec Sans, Kelly Llorenna, Lloyd Daniels, Laurent John, and tributes to Pink and Madonna.
Other stages at the festival include a cabaret stage, and a dance performance stage featuring local and national dancers and workshops with styles ranging from hip hop, salsa to street dance.

Pride Day will start with the parade march, which last year saw more than 7,000 people take part accompanied by a giant 50-metre rainbow flag.
Other highlights during the fortnight-long festival include the Pride Dog Show, a drag version of Murder, She Didn’t Write, comedy hosted by Jayde Adams and a 24-hour LGBT+ game jam.
New events for 2018 include poetry, a talk on the science of gender and sexuality in the natural world by TEDx speaker Antonia Forster:
Other events include the award-winning Pride film festival, Queer Vision; a specially curated circus evening in partnership with Circomedia; and a Pride takeover at the O2 Academy.
This year’s Pride aims to expand their investment in accessibility at the festival and thanks to support from UWE Bristol there will be sign language interpreters across all stages at the festival this year.
The team will also be developing wider channels to celebrate the intersectionality and diversity of the LGBT+ community in partnership with KIKI Bristol, St Paul’s Carnival and local disability charities.
