Charli XCX announced as Saturday headliner for Bristol’s Forwards Festival
Britain’s ‘ultra-pop girl’ Charli XCX has been revealed today as the final headline act and latest tour-de-force to grace the main stage of Bristol’s inaugural Forwards Festival, marking her first live appearance in the city.
The announcement comes in the midst of her UK and USA tour following the release of her first UK number one album Crash, described by Pitchfork as ‘kinetic pop-fun’, ‘textured dream-pop’ and ‘banging Eurodance and post-internet glitch’, as well as new sounds built on a ‘focused distillation of her own music’s wild pendulum swings.’
The avant-pop performer, singer, songwriter and producer will take to the stage on Saturday for a show that can’t be missed, joining Little Simz, Chemical Brothers and Jamie xx.
is needed now More than ever
After her groundbreaking debut documentary ‘Alone Together’ tested her creative limits and united a global community of vulnerable LGBTQ+ fans, Charli XCX continues to be a leading voice of a generation.
Putting her own spin on mainstream pop, Charli XCX is behind some of the biggest tracks of the last decade, from hits like Out Out, I Love It and Good Ones, to collaborations with Cardi B, Rita Ora, Iggy Azalea, and David Guetta, right through to her landmark lockdown album how i’m feeling now.
Forwards is the biggest new international music festival for Bristol, and the first collaboration for AEG Presents and Team Love.
The two day festival challenges what metropolitan festivals can be today, kickstarting a new breed of city festivals by committing to positive change through social initiatives and a powerful platform for discussion.
