Dozens of balloons take part in mass ascent despite rain
A screwdriver from Germany was among the balloons taking part in the first mass ascent of the 2023 Bristol International Balloon Fiesta.
It was one of 51 balloons that took off from Ashton Court on Friday despite the early morning rain.
Weather permitting, more mass ascents are due to take place until Sunday, with the second night glow scheduled for 9pm on Saturday.

But the enterainment is not just in the skies.
Other events to look forward to over the next few days include historic balloons tethered in the arena, a parachute display team, and music in the bandstand and Brizzle Kicks stage.
