A festival of autumn is coming to Ashton Court
All things autumnal will be taking place at Ashton Court during the Wild & Well Festival on October 20 and 21, with organisers creating a ‘festival within a festival’ to mark the turning of the seasons.
In the Wild Kitchen – set in a wood-fired yurt on the lawn in front of Ashton Court mansion – a seasonal lineup of cooking demos and workshops includes hedgerow tipples, medicinal mushrooms, tonics and teas’ with Rachel De Thample, cooking the seasons and the elements with Lia Leendertz, and pickling and fermenting with Thom Eagle.
At The Hearth – Wild & Well’s fire cooking area – your cockles will be warmed with workshops on smoking and curing, fish on fire, healing soups and broths and a special appearance from the Amazing Travelling Kipper House.

Nature connection is a big part of the Wild & Well programme and there is a distinctly autumnal feel to many of the Explore events including a variety of foraging walks, a workshop on awe, wonder and stargazing’ for longer nights ahead, wild singing and a barefoot trail created by Wild Place Project.
The festival has also teamed up with The Cider Box to close the festival on Saturday, October 20 with a traditional harvest wassail – toasting the apple season in fiery style.
Aisling Mustan, one of the organisers of Wild & Well, said: “Autumn is such a special time of year – a time for reconnection and grounding after the busy summer months.
“Our festival of autumn is essentially a big celebration of hygge – Bristol style!”
More than 200 events will take place at M Shed, We The Curious, SS Great Britain, Watershed and Ashton Court as part of Wild & Well Festival. Day tickets are £40, weekend tickets £70.
