These are 12 new food and drink openings to look forward to in Bristol in 2024:
1B Pitville ii
The team behind 1B Pitville on Cotham Hill are keeping tight-lipped about this one but if their original cafe is anything to go by, their second home will be another neighbourhood gem in an as-yet undisclosed neighbourhood.
BoxHall
It has been beset by problems but 2024 could be the year that BoxHall on Welsh Back finally opens. It promises to be “a brand-new premium food and beverage concept”, with food operators inside yet to be revealed.
Colonnade
Due to open in early January, Colonnade is located in the drop dead gorgeous surroundings of the Bristol Beacon on Colston Street. Expect “a fresh take on modern European cuisine” with seasonal menus and daily specials.
The Colosseum
One of two pubs on this list due to be brought back to life, the Colosseum in Redcliffe is being reopened by the team behind the Mothers’ Ruin and the Crown. Before you ask: yes, they are keeping the yellow sign.

Condesa
Mexican-inspired Condesa on Whiteladies Road (pictured at the top of this page) is the latest opening from Kieran and Imogen Waite, who are also behind Bravas, Gambas and Cargo Cantina. Keep an eye on their Instagram to see the behind the scenes journey of opening a new restaurant.
The Crown Tavern
At the end of 2023, Bristol24/7 broke the news that landlord Sam Gregory from the Bank and the Bell will be taking on the Crown Tavern in St Jude’s. The front bar is set to reopen in February, with much more planned in the future.
Hotel Gotham
One of Bristol’s most historic buildings, the Guildhall, is due to become the five-star Hotel Gotham by the end of 2024. The new hotel will have 75 bedrooms, a restaurant, spa and a rooftop terrace bar.

Island Poké
Bristol’s first Island Poké is set to open in a former Subway on the Clifton Triangle. Island Poké claim to have developed Europe’s first vegan poké, as well as collaborating with other restaurants including Rosa’s Thai (see below).
Left Handed Giant bar
2023 saw the Left Handed Giant team reopen Renato’s on King Street. 2024 will hopefully see them open another bar, this time within the Carriageworks on Stokes Croft with Pizza Is Lovely likely to also be joining them again.
Mangosteen
Taking over the former Pasta Loco on Cotham Hill will be Mangosteen, promising Thai tapas, Thai cocktails and vinyl.
Mød
Mød will be bringing speciality coffee to 360 Gloucester Road made on a Slayer machine. In what was previously Ritual and before that a mortgage advisers, the team behind Mød say they are “currently curating a menu that looks as good as it tastes”.
Prime by Pasture
Prime by Pasture will be located within the much-delayed development Redcliff Quarter development. From the team behind Pasture, it will include a butchery, deli, cookery school and burger joint within a spacious corner site.
Restore
Restore will be taking on the cafe at Future Leap on Gloucester Road. The growing business already has sites at the Harbour Inlet, College Green and Whiteladies Road, with a strong commitment to sustainability.

Rosa’s Thai
In a former post office on Baldwin Street, Rosa’s Thai will be the first opening in Bristol of a national brand from “a family of foodies dedicated to serving up perfected Thai dishes”.
