Chinese new year celebrations come to Wapping Wharf and Wai Yee Hong
Chinese new year will be celebrated with gusto at Wapping Wharf and Wai Yee Hong on Saturday.
Woky Fest comes to Wapping Wharf for its third annual outing, while Chinese supermarket Wai Yee Hong in Eastville will also be welcoming in the year of the pig in style with dance performances, kung fu demonstrations, lion dances and live firecrackers.
Wai Yee Hong’s celebrations will also include Malaysian Kitchen from Masterchef 2018 contestant Zaleha Olpin, Eatchu with their gyoza in a variety of flavours, Vietnamese specialties from Viet Vite, and sushi and other Japanese favourites from She Sells Sushi.

Lion dances will take place at Woky Fest and Wai Yee Hong
Larkin Cen of Woky Ko has roped in plenty of fellow Wapping Wharf food and drink establishments this year. Beverages available include a Chinese filter coffee from Little Victories, a Lion Cider from Bristol Cider Shop and a Dragon’s Blood cocktail from Cargo Cantina.
Among the food options, Gopal’s Curry Shack are serving Buddha’s Delight Curry, and Root are serving oysters with kimchi and peanuts.
The University of Bristol Chinese Lion Dance Troupe will perform lion dances at 2pm and 7pm on Gaol Ferry Steps, with a street food stall outside Woky Ko and envelopes of good fortune for those dining inside.
