2025’s Sunday lunches at the Bank sell out in 13 minutes
It took just 13 minutes on New Year’s Day for every Sunday lunch sitting at the Bank Tavern in 2025 to be booked up.
Reservations opened at 10am on January 1 and soon afterwards the website crashed for some people while others were lucky enough to secure their bookings for the award-winning experience.
The Bank’s roast has reached legendary status after being named the best Sunday lunch in the UK in the Observer Food Monthly Awards 2019.

Thanks to the pandemic, the pub on John Street in the Old City was later declared to have the world’s longest waiting list, although landlord Sam Gregory later told Bristol24/7 the true story about that.

Writing on Instagram, the Bank Tavern team said: “2025 Sunday Lunch tables fully booked in 13 minutes.
“Thank you for breaking the internet and our website, for your continued support and getting up on New Year’s Day to nab a booking…
“And yes, we’ll get a website engineer on hand for next year.”

Gregory added that he was “blown away” by the speed which the bookings sold out.
He said: “When we woke up bleary eyed from the excess of last night we weren’t prepared for the chaos of the next 13 minutes.
“We opened the diary and all hell broke loose. Our website crashed and we were inundated with messages across our socials.
“We’re only a back street boozer and not set up to handle that sort of traffic.
“We are processing through people’s messages, but we’re only a small team. Any cancellations will appear directly on our website!”
