Bagel Boy closes all three Bristol restaurants
All three Bagel Boy restaurants have suddenly closed, as well as their festival unit and sister business Proven on St Stephen’s Street.
The decision to close was “gut wrenching” according to a statement posted on the Facebook page of Bagel Boy, who began as a pop-up within The Elbow Rooms on Park Street in 2012 and later opened restaurants on St Nicholas Street, North Street and Gloucester Road.

“It’s been an absolute pleasure to grow Bagel Boy in this city,” the statement continued.
“The support we have received has been overwhelming and despite our sudden departure, we have taken the greatest pleasure in supplying this city with circular sarnies for the last half decade.”
No reason was given for the dramatic closure but the statement said that if they have “ever let anyone down, then we are really sorry.
“We have tried to make every bagel with the same love and attention as the last, but we’re only human, and every now and again we cocked it up.”
The Bagel Boy statement praised the Bristol food scene as “an amazing place to work”.
It said: “The competition is fierce but the people who work in it are some of the best. To everyone who has lent us blue roll, cellar gas, black pepper or change: thank you so much.
“We wish everyone else all the best and hope you continue to thrive and carry on the reputation Bristol has for some of the best food and drink in the country.”
The statement ended: “Massive love to everyone involved, we’re off to get a panini- which idiot thought a bap with a hole in it would make any money eh?!”
