‘Banksy and chill’ at new cafe

By Martin Booth  Monday Sep 9, 2024

Two signs on the steps to Stokes by the Orchard promise not just ‘hotties and bread’ but also ‘Banksy and chill’.

The new cafe and bakery in Hamilton House on Stokes Croft is from the same team as the Orchard on Clouds Hill Road in St George and the pop-up in Glitch on Old Market Street.

At Stokes by the Orchard you can expect speciality coffee, bread, pastries, sandwiches and salads.

From the new cafe – which for several years was Emmeline, now based at Spike Island – there is an unrivalled view of Banksy’s Mild Mild West mural, which was painted over three days in 1999 when Hamilton House was boarded up and unused.
