By Martin Booth  Wednesday Nov 27, 2024

Big Nath’s BBQ won two awards in the prestigious Street Food Championships.

Nathan Ritchie, aka Big Nath, won both the Street Food Chef of the Year accolade and the Bloggers’ Choice Award for his dirty fries.

“Two awards in one night – smashed it, Nathan!” wrote award organisers Dine Out Magazine on Instagram.

The Bloggers’ Choice Award for the dirty fries was chosen by Big Eats Global and Gaz Packer aka Curly Gaz Eats.

The dirty fries from Big Nath’s have become their signature dish since the business was founded during lockdown by Ritchie and Kins Pelletier.

They feature hand-cut and double-fried fries, with Big Nath’s own secret seasoning on, a layer of freshly made macaroni cheese, a layer of 16-hour pulled pork covered in their own barbecue sauce, alongside pickled gherkins, pickled onions and a drizzle of American mustard over the top.

Big Nath’s BBQ can be found at markets including Finzels Reach, Temple Quay, Harbourside and Tobacco Factory.

They also run a barbecuing school at their soon-to-be expanding unit in Backwell and host special events such as a Thanksgiving dinner taking place on Thursday at the Glassboat in collaboration with Bianchis.
