BoxHall still due to open in Bristol despite numerous delays

By Martin Booth  Saturday Jan 25, 2025

A site beset by delays still does not have an opening date despite originally due to open in summer 2023.

Bristol24/7 has been told that works at BoxHall on Welsh Back are progressing but the delays have led to the site owner’s other projects having to take priority.

The first BoxHall is now due to open in London near Liverpool Street station following the site in Bristol seeing its contractors go bust and work now appearing to have stopped.

BoxHall, from the same team behind BoxPark in London and Liverpool, promises to be a “premium food, beer and music hall concept”.

The 20,000 sq ft venue in the former O and M sheds is due to feature food traders across seven kitchens “along with a complementary events programme showcasing the best of Bristol’s music scene throughout the week, as well as a mix of other cultural events”.

A BoxHall spokesperson told Bristol24/7: “We can’t wait to finally start on site in Bristol after the developer works finally completed late last year.

“However, due to these delays we need to schedule works in the city around other current opening plans for our new BoxHall City and PlayBox schemes in the first part of this year.

“We look forward to confirming opening dates for BoxHall Bristol soon.”
