Bristol brewery named UK’s best
A Bristol brewery that began life nomadically has been named the UK’s best at the Brewers Choice Awards 2024.
Wiper & True, who started making beer wherever they could with no equipment to call their own, have a state of the art brewery and taproom in Lawrence Hill as well as their original home in St Werburgh’s now known as the barrel store.
As well as the brewery of the year accolade, Wiper & True also won the sustainability champion award – with fellow Bristol brewery and a former brewery of the year, Lost & Grounded, shortlisted in both of these categories.

Wiper & True founder, Michael Wiper, said: “These awards mean a huge amount to us, and give recognition to our team that have been working so hard behind the scenes to achieve great things.
“The exciting thing for us is that we know this is just the beginning!”
The Brewers Choice Awards from the Brewers Journal celebrates the brewery that “has really stood out head and shoulders over the rest during the last 12 months” in its brewery of the year choice.
The sustainability champion celebrates a brewery that “embraces innovation and implements measures to affect positive change”.
Previous breweries of the year have included St Anne’s-based Lost & Grounded in 2022 as well as North Brewing Co of Leeds in 2023 and Hackney’s Five Points in 2021
