Bristol brewery wins bronze in bottled beer of Britain competition

By Hannah Massoudi  Monday Oct 21, 2024

A Bristol brewery has won the bronze award in the Campaign for Real Ale’s (CAMRA) Champion Bottled Beer of Britain competition.

Incredible Brewing Co. which is based in Brislington, took home the award for its bottle Milk Stout.

The national competition process takes two years to complete and initially the beers are recommended by CAMRA members that know the beer.

Stephen Hall founder of the brewery has said: “Obviously I was flattered when the beer ended up in the finals. Some of the top British beer sommeliers and beer writers were on the judging panel.

“We’ve been brewing it for over ten years and we’ve seen traditionally brew stouts grown in popularity due to their deep complexity and health-giving properties.

“A great alternative to nitrogen injected Irish stouts owned by global conglomerates and their fake craft imitators.”

The brewery has been operational since 2012, with Stephen saying that they initially began brewing as “there wasn’t a great deal of good beer around at that time and as a lifelong enthusiast I felt compelled to change that.

“We chose our name The Incredible Brewing Company as a testimony to this ancient product that has evoked thoughts and deeds throughout history and been a catalyst for action, debate and human spirit.

“Also it’s about paying homage to all those that have brewed before and to promote this truly British product in an expanding global monopoly.”

The annual competition recognises the best bottle-conditioned beers in the country, and this year the winner was announced at an event at The Bohemia in North Finchley, London.

Five Kingdoms’ Dark Storm Stout (6.9%) was awarded the gold for Champion Bottled Beer of Britain award, with Lacons’ Audit, an 8% Barley Wine scooping silver.

Those wanting to sample some of this award-winning stout can visit the brewery for its bi-annual open day this Saturday.
