Bristol chefs team up to send aid to Gaza
In light of the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza, a collective of renowned chefs and hospitality groups from the South West have joined forces for a charity event aimed at providing much-needed aid via Action Against Hunger.
“An evening in aid of Gaza” will take place on Tuesday, July 2, at The Pump House and will feature a seven-course tasting menu crafted by some of Bristol’s best culinary talents.
Organised by Hannah Catley, owner of Lockdown Loaves and Catley’s in Clifton Village, the event promises not only a night of delicious food but also a platform to raise significant funds for Action Against Hunger, an organisation actively working to support those in Gaza. With the situation deteriorating daily, this initiative offers attendees a chance to contribute to a vital cause while enjoying a memorable evening.

Hannah said: “I’ve been somewhat sitting on my hands regarding the developing situation in Gaza because I think we live in a tricky culture where people are often chastised for having any sort of political view. This dinner isn’t a political affair in our eyes, it’s a humanitarian crisis and innocent people are starving to death.
“I just knew I had to do something to help and roped in the best in the business so we can do what we do best, the emphasis on this event is ‘come and let us feed you so we can help feed them’ we are hoping to sell 100 seats so we can really make a difference with the money raised”.
The funds raised from this event will support Action Against Hunger’s ongoing efforts in Gaza. The organisation has already made significant strides, reaching 837,000 people with their work. Their efforts include distributing over 8 million litres of drinking water, constructing 30 toilet blocks and handwashing stations, supporting 200,000 women and girls through water, sanitation, and hygiene services, distributing food baskets to over 15,000 people, and providing cleaning services in shelters for displaced individuals.
