Bristol Cider Shop named the best in the UK
Alongside retail giants such as Waitrose, Sainsbury’s and Virgin Wines, a small shop in two converted shipping containers in Bristol brought home some silverware at the Drinks Retailing Awards 2018.
Bristol Cider Shop in Wapping Wharf was named best cider shop in the UK for the second time at the ceremony in London – bringing back the accolade that they had previously won in 2015 when based at their original shop on the Christmas Steps.
“We’re really chuffed,” said Bristol Cider Shop owner Pete Snowman.

“There’s loads of competition for the awards so we didn’t expect to win again. It’s really nice to be recognised for all the hard work we’ve put into the new shop, and hopefully means that we’re doing something right!”

Open since 2010 and at Cargo since 2016, Bristol Cider Shop is one of the only dedicated cider shops in the UK and only sells real West Country cider made within 50 miles of Bristol from 100 per cent juice.
The Independent Beer Retailer of the Year at the awards on Tuesday went to Hop Hideout in Sheffield, Independent Champagne/Sparkling Wine Retailer to Selfridges in London, Independent Drinks Retailer of the Year to Borough Wines in London, Independent Spirits Retailer of the Year to online retailer The Whisky Exchange and Independent Wine Retailer of the Year to Vino Vero in Southend.
