Bristol to host Great British Asparagus Feast
In celebration of one of the most potent British vegetables, Bristol will host The Great British Asparagus Feast on May 5 this year. That is, providing the Feast’s crowdfunder campaign raises £7,000 by April 6.
Potential participants will bid to be a part of The Great Asparagus Feast, a 5 course meal that celebrates the short British asparagus season which traditionally begins on St George’s Day on April 23 and runs until the summer solstice on June 21. A seat at the table will cost £75 per person.
Josh Eggleton of The Pony & Trap will cook part of the Feast, as will guest chefs Jamie Randall and Olivia Barry of Adelina Yard and Seldon Curry of Wallfish Bistro. The chefs will be assisted by students from the City of Bristol College. Fiona Beckett, food and drink writer for The Guardian, will select the wine for the evening.
