Cafe opens third site in former pub

By Karen Johnson  Sunday Oct 13, 2024

An independent cafe and bar has opened a new site within a former Wetherspoons.

The Crafty Egg, whose first cafe opened on Stokes Croft in 2016, has opened its third branch in Redfield.

The cafe has taken the place of the former St George’s Hall on the ground floor of a art deco cinema which campaigners are fighting to restore rather than be turned into flats.

The Crafty Egg has opened in what used to be a Wetherspoons pub, the St George’s Hall

The Crafty Egg ran a competition in collaboration with Wiper and True and Arbor Ales which saw competition winners among those in attendance over the weekend.

Sharing the news of their opening on their social media channels, the cafe said: “We’re pleased to confirm that we had a successful soft launch of our new venue on Church Road last night!

“It was great to meet so many lovely local traders and, of course, our competition winners.”

Inside the new cafe are disco balls and foliage hanging from the ceiling

The indie eatery that also has a branch on Fishponds Road is renowned for its breakfast and brunch menu.

Drinks only were being served over the weekend, with brunch beginning on either Monday or Tuesday.

From beers and ciders to tea and coffee – the drinks menu at The Crafty Egg has a lot to choose from
