Caper & Cure team to open new wine bar
A brand new wine bar on a brand new street is being opened by the same team behind one of Bristol’s best restaurants only a stone’s throw away.
Carmen Street Wine will open in October on Carmen Beckford Street off Ashley Road in St Paul’s within the Carriageworks development.
Carmen Beckford Street is named after Carmen Beckford: a midwife, the first race relations officer in Bristol, one of the founders of St Paul’s Carnival and the first Black recipient of an MBE in the South West.

Carmen Street Wine from the team behind Caper & Cure on Stokes Croft will only seat around two-dozen guests and promises “lunches, wines, oysters, Guinness and bottles”.
Writing on Instagram, the Caper & Cure team said: “We can finally share the plans that our new little bar will opening next month!
“It’s been on the cards for sometime, but the recently created Carmen Beckford Street, which leads to The Carriageworks development (right behind the restaurant), will be home to Carmen Street Wine.
“There’s still a little way to go, but when we’re fully up and running, please come and see us for lunches, wines, oysters, Guinness and bottles to purchase and take away.
“Carmen Street Wine can seat up to 24 and can be hired for dinner parties and events – and of course, with the same top quality food and service you’ll find at Caper & Cure.”
