Caribbean cuisine comes to Wapping Wharf

By Sid Haynes-Worthington  Friday Mar 17, 2017

The founders of Bristol’s much-loved Biblos have announced that their new venture, Calypso Kitchen, is due to open in Wapping Wharf before the end of March.

Since 2010, Will Clark and Ariel Czaczkses have been fusing their Caribbean and Middle-Eastern roots into wraps, served from their restaurants in St Werburgh’s, Gloucester Road and Stokes Croft.

Calypso Kitchen promises to bring the same authentic flavours midway down Gaol Ferry Steps between Mokoko and Wild Beer.

“Expect big flavours from the 24-hour ‘low and slow’ cooked curry goat, Jerk belly pork and barbecue Jerk baby back ribs,” Will said.

“Tasty fish dishes like our pepper shrimp, grilled red mullet will also be on the menu, with vegetarians and vegans well catered for with such delights as red pepper and aubergine Gumbo, Bajan macaroni pie and sweet potato pie.”

Will and Ariel will also be selling their Biblos wraps from the new diner, including jerk fried chicken, pulled pork, falafel and homemade hummus.
