Celebrating ten years of Hart’s Bakery at Temple Meads
It may have Laura Hart’s name over the door, but Hart’s Bakery has long been a team effort.
It’s also almost a local by-law that a visit to the bakery now located within two archways on Lower Approach Road is compulsory before your train journey from Temple Meads.
Hart’s Bakery has been here for ten years, with some of the most popular bakes from that time making one-off reappearances on the menu from Tuesday to Saturday.
is needed now More than ever
Ahead of the bakery celebrating a decade at Temple Meads, Laura spoke to the Bristol24/7 Behind the Headlines podcast, where she was joined by her husband and business partner Pete Young, and head baker George Roberts:
Prior to founding Hart’s Bakery – originally selling her wares from the back of a bicycle – Laura had a career as a pastry chef in Bristol that took her from Quartier Vert to Bordeaux Quay, Ocean tapas bar, Arch House Deli and the Lido, before opening her first bakery on Hampton Lane off Cotham Hill.
“I’ve just always found that baking was a really fun, easy way to connect with people,” says Laura.
For Pete, it has been important that Hart’s Bakery “has stayed true to what we originally tried to do”.
