Chef brings back cookery school with new name
After his cookery school was forced to go online during the pandemic, a well-travelled chef is making a comeback with a renewed version.
Cook Bristol launched in 2020 before Peter Lien moved on to explore other endeavours including a stint with Gordon Ramsay.
Starting in December, Lien is bringing back his cookery school – now called The Global Larder – to Redland and Westbury-on-Trym which will teach home cooks everything from pasta-making to sushi-making.
is needed now More than ever
Lien is looking forward to this “multi-sensory experience” through his approach of participation and engagement.

Peter is of Indian and Chinese heritage and has extensively travelled the world tasting different cuisines
He said: “For me, cooking is about more than just flavour – it’s a multi-sensory experience. It’s about how a dish looks, smells, feels and, most importantly, how it makes you feel when you cook it.
“At The Global Larder, we focus on giving our students the chance to have a go at completely new dishes and techniques. Learning by doing is the best way to build confidence in the kitchen.”
Having trained at the prestigious Leiths School of Food & Wine in London and winning a national award for his outstanding cookery instruction, Lien now hopes to “inspire home cooks to explore diverse cuisines” as a way of developing their culinary skills.
One of his past students said: “Peter’s easygoing, friendly style made it fun and easy to follow.”
While another said: “The food was incredible, definitely one of the best meals I’ve ever made.”
Bookings for The Global Larder’s classes that begin in mid-December are open.
