Chocolate shop’s recipe for expansion

By Martin Booth  Friday Jun 15, 2018

Zara’s Chocolates has been a popular presence on North Street in Bedminster since being opened by Zara Narracott five years ago, sharing a shop with a florist.

But now Zara wants to go it alone and has found new premises just a few hundred yards from her current home.

With more space to make her amazing chocolate creations, and host workshops and special events, Zara also hopes to open a small hot chocolate cafe “where people can indulge and experience delicious hot chocolates, sit in and enjoy the experience in a complete dreamworld”.

But in order to fulfill her dreams of opening the new business, she is now crowdfunding in order to help fund the expansion plans.

Among the rewards for the Kickstarter backers are exclusive subscriptions to Zara’s Chocolates recipes and products before they hit the shelves and even a chocolate lock-in at the new shop for up to 15 people.

Zara is hoping to crowdfund at least £15,000 to help her open the new shop, which is three times as large as her current premises, with plans to offer even more to chocolate lovers in Bristol and beyond.

“We have so many ideas for different products and things and the new space will give us the opportunity to do that,” Zara told Bristol24/7.

“If we successfully make the crowdfunding target it will be such a great help. I just love coming up with new flavours and seeing the look on people’s faces when they try them for the first time.”
