City farm shops featured on new independent guide
Two shops from the city have made it to a guide celebrating independent farm shops in Britain.
Brockley Stores in Brockley and The Public Market in Easton, feature in The Farm Shop Guide along with 163 other small and mostly family-run shops across England, Wales and Scotland.
Revered as the “go-to-guide for deliciously fresh local food”, the guide has been applauded by several industry stalwarts including Guy Singh-Watson (founder of Riverford Organic), Helen Browning (CEO of the Soil Association) and Jane Gray (Director of Broom House Farm).

Wright’s Food Emporium and Penpont Organic Farm Shop from Wales are also featured in the book
Singh-Watson who has also provided the quote for the guide’s cover said: “Proper farm shops – ones that actually grow, rear, or make most of their own produce with love, attention to detail, and a genuine connection to the land – are a beautiful thing. This book will help you find them.”
The guide is published by Printslinger, which has to its laurels the 2024 Amazon bestsellers – The Extra Mile and The Coastal Café Guide – both paying homage to Britain’s food and drink world in their own subtle ways.
True to the farm spirit, the guide promises readers a whirlwind of variety with award-winning shops to those with people who have spent hours in the fields, before just making it to the till.

This is the third guide from the publishers that focuses on food and drink
Both Brockley Stores and The Public Market are known for bringing a slice of the farm to the city, with local produce, meat and freshly prepared dishes.
The guide also promotes 15 food and farming charities and has pledged 1% of sale profits towards the Sustainable Food Trust.
The Farm Guide is available to purchase from the publisher’s website now, with an Amazon release scheduled for October 21.
