Cocktail bar and restaurant becomes first casualty of 2024

By Martin Booth  Tuesday Jan 2, 2024

A cocktail bar and restaurant has not reopened after their new year’s eve party.

Aluna has been on the corner of Broad Quay and Marsh Street since 2015, with its sister business at the Mailbox in Birmingham remaining open.

Aluna’s decade in Bristol has provided pan-Asian food alongside extravagant cocktails.

In a statement, the Aluna team said: “So Angels, we have some news. Aluna Bristol is taking a forever vacation.

“We want to say thank you for the good times, the bottomless brunches, the cocktail trees, setting drinks on fire and the Bristol cocktail weekends that kept the drinks a’sipping.

“For one final blow out, come and see us tomorrow for Aluna’s last New Years Eve party in Bristol.

“The venue will be closed from the 1st of January. For anyone with any questions, please email bristol@aluna.uk.com”

The news has been greeted with sadness by Aluna’s customers.

“So sorry to read this team,” wrote @thatgraduatefoodie on Instagram. “Aluna has been home to some amazing nights and days over the years.”

“Best cocktails of my life in there and I’ve been to a few cocktail bars,” said Kelly Smith on Facebook. “Great nights and lovely memories. Sad to hear.”

Kerry Lloyd said: “Nooooooo! The best cocktail bar Bristol had! This is very sad news.”

Janette Burke added: “Very sad news, best porn star martini ever and loved your smoking cocktails!
You will be missed.”
