The countdown is on until Too Many Critics

By Bristol24/7  Monday Jun 18, 2018

Bristol’s first ever Too Many Critics event is taking place on Sunday at Bambalan.

Raising funds for Action Against Hunger, some of the city’s most well known food critics and writers – including Bristol24/7 Editor Martin Booth – will be taking themselves out of their comfort zones and cooking for a room full of chefs and guests.

Financial Times food writer, restaurateur and BBC Food & Farming Awards judge Tim Hayward is a recent addition to the lineup, which also includes Crumbs editor Jess Carter, food blogger Natalie Brereton and television food series producer Andy Clarke.

Each will take charge of their own course, with guests rating every dish to find the night’s winner.

Jess & Andy’s mezze: fetta stuffed aubergine, walnuts, pomegranate, date syrup, deep fried broccoli and romesco, garlic flat bread with dukka
Martin’s charcoal-roasted mackerel taco: served with guacamole, red cabbage, green salsa, hot sauce and black corn tortilla
Tim’s slow cooked lamb: charcoal-roasted slow-cooked shoulder of lamb, spiced summer cassoulet with merguez sausage, fried greens with garlic and olive oil
Natalie’s pannacotta: rose water pannacotta, pistachio, pomegranate

Tickets for the event cost £45, with all profits donated to Action Against Hunger, a global humanitarian organisation that works in nearly 50 countries worldwide taking decisive action against the causes and effects of hunger.

Tickets include a 6 O’Clock Gin cocktail on arrival, a four-course Middle Eastern-inspired feast and entertainment throughout the evening.
