Pubs and Bars / Alma Tavern and Theatre
Curtain up for revamped Alma Tavern & Theatre
The Alma Tavern & Theatre is reopening later this month under new owners, Zazu’s Kitchen Pubs.
The new owners say that they are determined to maintain and hopefully build on the Clifton pub’s nationwide reputation as a small-scale theatre producer, as well as introduce a brand new food menu with an Italian emphasis.
The Alma Tavern will become a sister pub to the Greenbank, the Westbury Park, the Knowle and the Grace.
is needed now More than ever
Zazu’s Kitchen Pubs partner Chris Nelson said: “We are all about creating community pubs that are held in high regard in the neighbourhood, somewhere we’d all love to have at the end of our street. And you don’t get much more community than the Alma Tavern.
“Like a lot of people in Bristol, we love the space and the building, the theatre upstairs and feel we can really add to its many existing attributes.”
Plans for the pub include a makeover with a lighter and brighter colour scheme, and new furniture and décor, as well as a refurbishment of the small courtyard garden at the back.
A little known fact is that the pub holds a wedding license and regularly hosts ceremonies, a quirky feature which will continue when the Alma reopens on Thursday, July 20.
