Diner closes without warning
Post piling up at the front door of a city centre restaurant is an all-too familiar sign of its demise.
Quay Street Diner was described as an “American-style diner and neighbourhood hangout” and was a popular venue for brunch.
There has been no official announcement and silence on social media, but its website is now offline and it looks unlikely to reopen.

Quay Street Diner opened in 2018 in what was previously community cafe and bike workshop Roll for the Soul, and before that Cafe Central.
One of the most impressive features of the building is a mural painted by New York’s Tats Cru at the See No Evil street art festival in 2011.
