Gail’s to open their first Bristol bakery

By Martin Booth  Monday Mar 4, 2024

A bakery with more than 100 branches across the UK is opening its first store in Bristol.

The website of Gail’s says that “nothing gives us as much pleasure as a freshly baked, lovingly crafted loaf” with the company saying that they “want to play our part to bring humanity back into the food world, and back to local communities”.

Gail Mejia ran a wholesale bakery business for restaurants in London in the 1990s, with the first Gail’s bakery opening on Hampstead High Street in 2005.

The first Gail’s in Bristol is due to open on Regent Street in Clifton Village in a former hairdressers between the Clifton pub and Shelter charity shop.

Its arrival in BS8 will follow hot on the heels of newly opened Greek bakery Bake-A-Licious, also on Regent Street, as well as nearby Catley’s on King’s Road, Anna Cake Couture on Boyce’s Avenue and Chandos Deli on Princess Victoria Street.
