Getting ready to inspire the next generation of chefs

Our programme set to inspire the next generation of chefs begins next week, with a taster session for young people aged 16-25.

The session, delivered by food educator Barny Haughton, will be a chance for young people to meet some of the city’s leading chefs and take part in a demo inspired by Ready, Steady, Cook.

Some of the chefs involved include Sam Sohn-Rethel of Bell’s Diner, Josh Eggleton of Michelin-starred Pony and Trap and Adrian Kirikmaa, chef manager at City of Bristol College.

Following the session, we’ll be announcing the successful team of 12 young people who will be enrolled on our programme. This will include two day-long workshops, followed by the prep and delivery of the Bristol24/7 Autumn Feast on November 16. The star chefs will be on the lookout for talent, with exciting opportunities for young people to be placed in training, apprenticeships or placements across the city.

A unique experience for both kitchen and guests… and you are invited!

The Bristol24/7 Autumn Feast, in partnership with Square Food Foundation and acclaimed sculptor Carol Peace, will be a unique experience for both kitchen and guests.

The dinner will tell the story of provenance, producers, ingredients, cooking processes and chefs through six street food-style mini-kitchens, manned by the city’s leading chefs and trainees. Think theatre and fun as you wander between kitchens, enjoy a bite to eat, and talk to the chefs, trainees and producers. Guests will then be seated for the courses.

The evening is an opportunity to bring people together and celebrate our wonderful city. Enjoy food, music, drink wine and hear about what Bristol24/7 is up to.

A special auction of Carol Peace’s sculpture Eve will take place, to mark Carol’s 25th year as an artist, with all proceeds going towards the Bristol24/7 social impact agenda.
